Owned by the current owner since October 1989, this 'Cuda is 1 of 2724 total vehicle units produced in a six week period by Chrysler to homologate a car for their SCCA Trans-Am race team. Only 12% of the total production run were painted in FY1 Lemon Twist Yellow. Since the completion of the restoration of this vehicle in July of 1995, it has only been driven 7,300 miles. This vehicle includes receipts, photos, and all other documentation of the restoration!



Restoration

Engine & Drivetrain

(receipts are available for the following items along with photos throughout the restoration process)

  • 340 cubic-inch engine with three Holley carburetors (factory rated at 290HP)
  • T/A Steering Gear and Quick Ratio Pitman Arm
  • Factory Spec 3.55:1 Sure-Grip Rear Axle
  • Electronic Ignition
  • Starter, water pump, alternator, belts, and hoses have been replaced
  • Torqueflite 727 rebuilt transmission with a mild shift kit from a 1972 model
  • Fuel lines, transmission cooler lines, and brake lines have been replaced
  • Engine harness along both front and rear lamp wiring harnesses have been replaced
  • Rear leaf springs have been replaced
  • Rebuilt rear axle center section (clutch type)
  • Front and rear sway bar bushings and end links have been replaced
  • Replaced front ball joints, tie rods along with Hemi-spec torsion bars
  • Rebuilt T/A steering gear
  • Heater core has been replaced
  • Rebuilt out board carburetors, center carburetor has been replaced
  • Wiper motor replaced

Interior

(Upholstered by Legendary Interiors)

  • Replaced the carpet, seat covers, and headliner
  • Dash assembly and steering column are from a 1972 model, but has the correct 1970 gauges

Exhaust

  • Replaced main pipes, mufflers, and tail pipes

Exterior

  • Replaced the quarter panel skins, trunk floor, rear shock crossmember, front and rear valences along with left and right fenders and trunk lid
  • All exterior stainless has been repaired and polished
  • Bumpers have been re-chromed
  • The engine compartment, front and rear frame rails, exterior panels, and trunk compartment were stripped to bare metal prior to painting

Recent Replacements

  • Set of 4 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires - 2016
  • Front brake pads replaced - 2017
  • All three carburetors were rebuilt by Van's Carburetors Indianapolis - November 2018
  • Battery replaced with a genuine Mopar unit - December 2018
  • New brake master cylinder - January 2019
  • Brake fluid flushed and filled with Motul DOT 5.1 High-Temp Fluid - January 2019
  • Rubber brake lines replaced - January 2019
  • Transmission serviced - January 2019
  • New parking brake cable assembly - January 2019
  • Engine oil changed using Castrol GTX and a genuine Mopar filter - January 2019
